What is a professional organizer?
According to the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), "A professional organizer enhances the lives of clients by designing systems and processes using organizing principles and through transferring organizing skills. A professional organizer also educates the public on organizing solutions and the resulting benefits. Professional organizers help individuals and businesses take control of their surroundings, their time, their paper, and their systems of life."
What is home staging?
Home staging is preparing a home to sell so that it appeals to the most buyers as possible. The process involves decluttering and organizing a home in order to enhance its best features while minimizing its negative features, if any.
How long will it take for me to get organized?
Organizing is a process rather than an event and it varies from situation to situation. The length of a project depends on several factors, including: the size of the space, the amount of clutter and/or paper in the space, as well as the client's abilities, needs, and commitment to change.
I'm embarrassed by all of the clutter in my home, should I clean up or buy any containers before our initial consultation?
No. All services will be provided in a professional and non-judgmental manner. Don't worry about cleaning up or purchasing any organizing products. It really is best to view the space in its usual state in order to better assess your true needs.

What type of training and education do professional organizers have?
Most organizers utilize their prior education and experience to transition into an organizing career. As the Professional Organizer for Order and Balance,
sm I am no exception. With a B.A. in Sociology and a Masters degree in Social Work, I am uniquely qualified to deal with the social and psychological aspects of clutter and find solutions to overcome them. I also worked as a surgical technologist for over 7 years. During that time, I learned to organize hundreds of things, in a short amount of time, and under less than ideal conditions. I completed the HGTA Professional Organizer Training Course, developed by celebrity organizer, Cyndi Seidler. In addition, I am a member of NAPO, NAPO-Ohio, NSGCD, and NASW, all of which provide me with continuing education.
Will I have to spend a lot of money buying a lot of stuff (accessories, containers, closet systems, etc.)?
No. We will work with what you already own as much as possible. If, after we have assessed your needs, we determine the need to acquire additional items we will work within your budget to find a solution. Getting organized doesn't have to be expensive.
Is a professional organizer going to come in and throw away everything?
No. You decide what stays and what goes. You are the decision maker, we simply guide you through the process.
