Chronic Disorganization

Are you Chronically Disorganized?

According to the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization (NSGCD), you may be considered Chronically Disorganized if you answer yes to the following questions:

  1. Do you have a long, on-going history of being disorganized?
  2. Does disorganization negatively affect your daily life (e.g. losing things, running late, overwhelmed by clutter)?
  3. Have you tried getting organized on your own, but haven't had much luck at it?

If you answered "yes" to the above questions, don't worry--we can help.

Causes of Chronic Disorganization*

NSGCD states that disorganization can be caused by a number of situations and/or conditions, and it may be situational or chronic. Situational Disorganization usually occurs as a result of a temporary transitional period following a change in one's life (e.g. birth of a child, divorce, new job, death of a loved one, relocation, etc.).  Chronic Disorganization may be caused by a wide range of factors including (but not limited to):

  • Difficulty adjusting to transitions.
  • Overly complex organizational systems
  • Never being taught organizational skills
  • Haven't found the right organizational fit
  • Lack of storage/too much "stuff"
  • Physical Impairments
  • ADD or AD/HD
  • OCD/Hoarding
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • etc.

Whatever the cause, Order and Balance, LLC will assist you in finding organizational solutions that are appropriate for your particular situation.
